Plastic Mary
Plastic Mary is the inaccurate and potentially disrespectful name given to a statue of the Madonna, or Our Lady the Blessed Virgin Mary, erected by the Catholic community on Rubha Raonuill on the headland marking the entrance to Loch Nevis towards Inverie Bay, east of the Sound of Sleat.
The white statue is actually made from GRP (glass reinforced plastic), or fibreglass, rather than simple plastic, and visitors to the site have reported that the structure has a large hole in its back.
You may wish to read our entry on Inverie House regarding access to this general area if you wish to visit the site, as such access is less than immediate.
