The Trident Missile is carried aboard American Ohio class and British Vanguard class submarines.
First deployed in 1990, the Trident II D5 is the latest generation of the submarine launched fleet ballistic missile (FBM), and follows the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident I C4 programs. From 1989 to August 2008, the D5 has achieved 124 consecutive successful test launches, a record unmatched by any other large ballistic missile or space launch vehicle.
