Screen Machine is an 80-seat, air conditioned, mobile cinema which brings the latest films to remote and rural areas of Scotland.

The mobile cinema tours more than 40 communities in the Highlands and Western Islands with each tour lasting approximately 10 weeks. It also attends selected film festivals.

Funded by Creative Scotland, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Screen Machine is owned and operated by Regional Screen Scotland. It is also sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland.[1]

2018 marked the 20th anniversary of the Screen Machine service.

Funding secured for period 2018 to 2021

The operator of the UK's only full-time, self-contained mobile cinema has secured the funding it needs to run its programme for the next three years.

Regional Screen Scotland (RSS) said Creative Scotland intends to provide it with a total grant of 620,350 for April 2018 to March 2021.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) will also give a total of 75,000 over the same period.[2]
