Machrihanish Intermediate Ground Control Intercept Radar Station
Records indicate that Machrihanish was the site of a Royal Navy Intermediate Ground Control Intercept Radar Station during World War II.
The station was visible in RAF aerial photographs taken in 1946 which showed three buildings (one large and two small), together with a what appeared to be an adjacent aerial, located in a field approximately one kilometre north east of Drumlemble. The station is reported to have been used for training between 1943 and 1945.⚠ [^I Brown, Radar Archive.^]
There are no surviving remains visible in the area of the site.
