Liberton Decoy
A World War II civil Starfish decoy was sited in the area now occupied by Braid Hills golf course, in the Liberton area to the south of Edinburgh.
Identified from aerial photographs taken in 1945, the site is described as having the enclosures and ditches typical of a QF or fire decoy, intended to divert enemy bombers by providing controlled, visible fires located remotely from potential targets. No mention was made of a control bunker.
No evidence of the decoy site remains on the golf course.
