Kames Rifle Ranges
The Kames rifle ranges were located to the east of Kames, south of Tighnabruaich, Argyll & Bute.
Two rifle ranges have been identified on old Ordnance Survey maps of the area. The first is shown on maps dating back to 1869 and is annotated as a Rifle Volunteer Range, lying to the south of the Millhouse Road or B8000 between Kames and Millhouse, and immediately to the east of the present day Tighnabruaich ROC post, and the local fire station.
Later mapping dating from 1901 shows that the range to the south of the road was no longer being recorded, and that a 600 yard rifle range had been created to the north of the road, following a similar alignment to that of the earlier range. This feature no longer exists, and was last seen on the 1924 map of the area.
