Gin Head Radar Station

Radar station building

Gin Head radar station was a World War II radar station located on Gin Head to the east of North Berwick on the south shore of the Firth of Forth.
This site was formerly described as an Air Ministry and Admiralty Signals Establishment extension used for research, but was later (1998) described as a Coast Defence/Chain Home Low (CD/CHL) radar station with transmitting and receiving block.
The earlier information corresponds to the location of a larger collection of buildings which form a research establishment located just to the east of the radar station, and identified as an Admiralty Signals Establishment Extension.
As of late 2008, a planning application to allow the development of the site for housing has been approved.
