AA Battery Whistlefield
A World War II anti-aircraft battery was sited halfway between Garelochead and Portincaple, west of the railway and Whistlefield Road, and south east of the RNAD Coulport access road. Site number AN7. Part of the Clyde AA Defences, the battery was known as Whistlefield. Also reported to have been described as "AA gun site, Gareloch and No 1 Military Port (Faslane)".
The battery has been demolished and it is suggested that most of the site was lost under spoil when the new access road to RNAD Coulport was constructed in the mid-1960s, when Army buildings were reported to have been removed.
All that is said to remain is part of the original concrete road, and a holdfast.
