AA Battery Whinhill
A World War II anti-aircraft battery was sited to the south of Greenock. Site number AS2. Part of the Clyde AA Defences, the battery was known as Whinhill.
The battery was equipped with four emplacements and was located in the area to the northeast of buildings belonging to Greenock's Whinhill Golf Club. During the war, the clubhouse was used as the Battery Headquarters for the area, and the golf course was abandoned and left to grow wild. First hand examination of aerial photographs, held by RCAHMS, showed the accommodation camp was to the west of the battery.
There are no surviving remains of the battery.
