AA Battery Linwood

⚠ (:tracetrails:)

A World War II anti-aircraft battery was sited to the east of Linwood, on the south side of the A737. Site number S6. Part of the , the battery may also have been known known as Loch End.

The battery was equipped with four emplacements, armed with four 3.7-inch guns, an accommodation camp, and a GL Radar mat to the north west.

The site was lost in 1961, when construction of the engineering works for the Linwood car factory (home of the Hillman Imp) began there.

The last car rolled off the production line in 1973, and the last major building was demolished in 1997. The site, and much of the surrounding area, was redeveloped as the Phoenix Retail Park.
