Why are there almost no images on this site?
Our apologies for the loss of most images on SeSco.
However, the piece of scum known as Rupert Murdoch bought our image host of many years, Photobucket, some time ago and has been slowly ruining it. Now we know his real motives - MONEY by blackmail, holding our images for ransom as he places a service formerly free for almost two decades behind another of his stinking PAYWALLS.
Without any warning or notice, image sharing was disabled, and the only way to get them back it to pay $399 for the formerly free service.
Needless to say that is never going to happen, and we are emptying and deleting our Photobucket accounts - and will not be going back, ever (even if the sharing was restored).
Although Photobucket stated the account would be closed and deleted on 5 June 2017, it did not even honour this, and it remained in existence, with an invitation to restore it, until 15 June 2017.
See their pathetic 'explanation' or excuse for ending the service with ZERO notification to users here: Photobucket addresses complaints over new policy that charges heavy users $400 Retrieved 16 July 2017.
Geograph may help soften the blow
While the chances of detailed subject views are low, we still offer the option of nearby geograph images based on the location of the featured subject - and sometimes get lucky too.

Welcome to Secret Scotland
Secret Scotland aims to provide a common resource where secret, hidden or otherwise notable Points of Interest around Scotland may be recorded and shared, and is modelled after the class-leading format of Wikipedia.
If you have an interesting subject of local interest, then please consider sparing a moment to add a page, to help expand and support this site.
Thanks to spammers, you may or may not be randomly asked for a password if you attempt to edit a page. Merely enter the required response to continue. The required response is currently: sesco
There are four resources available to help with this aim:
- This Wiki where anyone may create and save pages
- The Forum, where site content may be discussed
- The Blog, where news, announcements, and interesting items are posted as required
- Our Photo Pool in Flickr, where members may share interesting images
Secret Scotland can also be found on Twitter, where news alerts and items that are currently too short to justify inclusion in one of the more formal options listed above can be posted quickly.
It's also where alerts regarding any site problems or outages will be posted, usually with more details in the Blog.
By secret or hidden, we're really just referring to anything that might be described as lost, unknown, uninvestigated, unexplained, undiscovered, unexplored, forgotten, undisclosed, underground, subterranean, camouflaged, disguised, suppressed, or similar. In simple terms, it could just be something (or somewhere) that's just a bit out of the ordinary, and might not be noticed if not highlighted. As inspiration, these are a few of the existing Categories :

Map on a page feature
Sadly, the various upgrades made by Google to their map API have killed all the old code which was written to allow customised maps with points to be shown on any page.
I haven't kept up to date with the changes, and it seems those smarter than me who wrote the bulk of the code used for this feature also got fed up with the changes and lack of backward compatibility - and gave up too.
Although Google maintained a useable interface for old code for a while, that was withdrawn, so now there are NO MAPS.
There's no quick and easy way to provide an alternative - there are hundreds of pages and thousands of coordinates that would have to be converted for something new.
That said, some of the options that I ported the lat/lon pairs to, and are listed under the 'Aerial views' heading toward the foot of the page do still work in some cases, so if you are looking to view a location, this is always worth trying.
Sorry, but I guess that's the price of 'improvements'.
