I was fairly gobsmacked to come across this pic.

Although I managed to collect one or two books with early pics of Glasgow, they generally 'run out of steam' by the time of the war, and although the publisher is complete in their written account of many of the scenes, by giving descriptions of the changes seen in later years, there are seldom any pics of the later scenes described.

I have never seen this view looking towards Lewis's and the St Enoch Hotel, visible OVER and behind low level buildings on Argyle Street, and of course (neglecting the fact of St Enoch being demolished now) now impossible due to the much taller building that replace the little Arnott Simpsons store seen.
