Date-wise, WP offers only " HMS Curlew was a Naval Air Station near St Merryn, Cornwall, previously named HMS Vulture. She was HMS Vulture from her commissioning in 1940 until 1952, when she was renamed HMS Curlew. She was closed in 1956 and sold in 1959.It also has " HMS Curlew, Inellan, Dunoon, Argyll & Bute Harbour Defence Depot". So 1940 onwards, but closure could have been any time after. Assuming everyone else will do the obvious searches, I tried some more obscure options, but so far turned up nothing of local interest. Alternates may be needed if anything is to be unearthed. I tell a lie, one of our usual sources has " HMS Curlew (anti-submarine fixed defence training establishment, Dunoon, Argyll)".
