It doesn't appear to lead to anything useful. The first time I tried it it led to the "windows cannot open the page".
I had no problem.
Clicked on The Guides, got a list of areas with a clickable map
Clicked on Scotland, got a list of guides for Scotland
Clicked on Argyll and Bute, got a general description of that volume with author, date, ISBN and cover image (I find these useful for my catalogue of my books).
WATER, wood and a tub of wholegrain mustard - all that is left inside of the Keil Hotel, Southend, but after lying derelict for decades, a father and his two sons have decided to take on the task of bringing it back to life.
Dunaverty’s Donnie McLean bought the Keil Hotel and along with his sons Alasdair and Oliver is looking to renovate the existing building, hopefully creating jobs for the area and bringing Southend back to life. Although structurally sound the Keil is listed as a ‘building at risk’ on the Scottish Register. A survey at the end of last year described it as being in ‘very poor condition’ due to exposure to the elements over the years......................
Apart from the official reports, there have been a number of new photographs placed online this year, and the detail they show is of a a place that looks as badly decayed and derelict as the descriptions of the past have suggested.
It's one thing to raise the cash and spend £30,000 to restore a Classic car worth less than £10,000, but the cost of restoring a flat roofed, Deco-style building that has lain open and exposed for thirty years can only be guessed at, and the need to meet modern building control, and the demands of Historic Scotland since the building has attracted their attention can only be imagined.
If it ever reached completion, unless funded by someone who has spare cash, it will have to be paying it's way for many a year at a loss until the investment is repaid.
