With the current hassle of registration, I'm posting this on following receipt of a question.

Has anyone ever heard of a British Officer, Tim Iredale, who was involved in a limpet mine attack on a German submarine somewhere in Shetland.

The only source so far is a reference in the book ‘The Last Ditch’ by David Lampe.

The Last Ditch: Britain's Resistance Plans Against the Nazis: Amazon.co.uk: David Lampe, Gary Sheffield: 9781853677304: Books

I will, of course, pass on anything that might turn up.

I have 'The Last Ditch' and have read that too.  Didn't he swim out whilst the sub was charging its batteries (surfaced), attach the mine, and swim back again?  I have a feeling I have another account in another book, but I'll need to look.
