I reckon if they are going to sue Tripadvisor over reports they claim are negative and false, Tripadvisor should be suing others for posting false reports that make them look good and push them up the ratings.

Then the punter arrives to find the shiny hotel they were told about is actually a mould covered and rat infested hole.

That would only be fair.

Let's hope the result is found to be as interesting to the reporter as the instance of the action was, and we get to learn the outcome.

As far as I know, no disgruntled owner has succeeded with this ploy, and if it was something that could be done, Tripadvisor would have been shut down years ago. I'm sure the awards in only two or three cases under American jurisdiction would have wiped them out.

On the basis that the guesthouse is not indeed a rat-infested dive, and it's a good owner who has just 'taken the hump', I hope he does not lose his shirt and guesthouse in legal fees if this should prove to be an ill-advised course to sail.
