What do you think is the purpose the small compound at
(:gma-point lat=55.9681184 lon=-3.3468390 :) (:mlat:55.9681184:)(:mlon:-3.3468390:)(:mngr6:NT160758:) ? Underground Fuel Depot?
There seems to be some kind of artifact in the woods to the east. Could this be the remains of the AAOR? I don't see anything that is the same shape as the one in Inverkip so I assume it has been demolished although it could have been altered. |

The compound is described as a 'gas gov', and the features are pipes emerging onto the surface.
Further reading reveals it to be a 'pig trap' which we all know refers not to swine with curly tails, but the pigs sent into pipelines to clean them, and carry out other interesting jobs.
Can't see anything to the east except the roof of a house and a garden - have I gone too far and missed the intended? How far east to look? |

The post AAOR building has been externally altered quite a lot, we visited it some years ago and were able to go into most (possibly all) areas. We only realised there was an earlier one later so not seen that one.

I can see an apparent feature on the Google aerial, about 80 m east of the compound, but when viewed in Bing, there isn't really anything, so I think it's just some undergrowth and shadow.
I checked the roof I mentioned, and it turns out to belong to a lodge. |

News on the closure of Craigiehall:
Quoted Text
Over 100 jobs will be cut when the Ministry of Defence closes its Edinburgh headquarters.
The Scottish regional headquarters at Craigiehall will close and a central headquarters will take over for the whole of the UK.
In Scotland, 103 civilian jobs will be lost in the closure.
The figures were released by the Minister for the Armed Forces, Nick Harvey, in a written response to a parliamentary question from shadow defence secretary Jim Murphy.
Mr Murphy said the losses would be a "big blow" to Edinburgh.

I work at Craigiehall and at the minute it is not shutting. There are too many lodger units with no where to go. |

Correct. But I said merely that it was closing - not that it was shutting now - the point was intended to have readers note that no date was given by the minister. Maybe that will be the next headline. (Unless someone knows better ) |
