I've launched http://www.lochlongcam.com with 20 pre-set video streams rotating of the loch from Ardentinny (the views will be changed from time to time). 20 still images are grabbed and saved from the stream each hour + manual grabs of any interesting stuff. This is very much a work in progress, so expect changes over the coming days. All feedback welcome!
I looked in on the Ardentinny cam for a while too.
When daylight comes around, will the Loch Long cam streams catch any of the activities at the Finnart Ocean Terminal, or the other pier a little to the north than we may be shouldn't mention
Yes, we should be able to have coverage of Finnart, I've been messing with it today, but not so easy to get the cam position I'd like and lose the cables.. still a work in progress! The other place up the coast, nope, we're just a bit too far away I'm afraid. A good NY to you!
Thoroughly enjoyed looking at your cam LL though I have to say it makes me wonder why the Metropolitan police are lifting foreign tourists for taking pictures of the the National Gallery for instance and you are getting away with 24 X 7 surveillance of probably the country's most vital military base. Canny get my head round that at all.
The camera has been online in various forms for over 2 years now. I'm sure the authorities are fully aware of it as we do promote it. We've also had dealings with their media people on other Loch Long-related matters at ardentinny.org. The views we stream are no different from those obtainable by any visitor to the Loch area.

I suppose you are lucky its only Coulport and not Heathrow or Oxford Street.
Joking aside I think your webcam could well be of great assistance to Al-Qaeda and you should seriously consider turning it off. After all what is the point of showing off a sensitive military base to the world?
What possible security implications can there be from images which are low resolution and cannot be zoomed in to to see any useful detail?
Anyone could stand on the lochside at Ardentinny with a VR stabilised lens and shoot hand-held stills using a high megapixel camera that would let them read the names on the boats, and probably identify the faces of the personnel.
I could attach a GSM module to a power pole (to avoid flat battery syndrome), and a miniature, high resolution video camera feeding either high-res stills or lower res video (or even a full HD camcorder now), which I could dial up on demand from a mobile phone, and download images or footage whenever I wanted.
Low res or not what is the point of capturing what is probably Britain's most sensitive military base on a webcam - ? Am I missing something or is it form to help the terrosti? Am I at odds with Ardentinny.com? Aye but God bless their wee tartan socks anyway.
