The Isle of Mull experienced an earthquake on Sunday, December 13 2009, at 05.39

It was noticeable enough to shake the island's resident RSPB’s officer awake

Centred on Gruline at Loch Ba, the quake registered 2.3 on the Richter Scale, with a hypocentric depth of 11.2 km.

It would appear that the last quake reported in the area was something of a false alarm, and was ultimately attributed to last years Joint Warrior exercise, when the Royal Navy put their hands up to using explosivea on the seabed of The Minch.

This year's JW exercise was completed recently, but that was some weeks ago.
