Was puzzled to see a Landrover with Purple and white chequered logo..."civil defence scotland "traversing through East Ren today. Thought maybe they are worried about a rovolt of the locals about the bank charges decision...any takers.

Might be this organisation.

There aren't any clear pictures of vehicles but they have blue and orange Battenberg at the top of the page which corresponds with the colours used on the standard Civil Defence / Emergency Planning symbol.

Its not purple and white, its blue and orange battenberg. The reason I know this is because its parked on my driveway as i type this! The link in the last post by jmb is to the correct organisation. Here is a picture of the vehicle in question. It still has to get the crests added to it.

Those colours represent the rail service, is that what you do?

The colours for Civil Defence are actually the blue and orange. The colours and logo of the triangle in the square are governed by the geneva convention. The logo is a blue triangle on an orange background. The railways seem to have decided to use those colours as well.

We provide swift water and flood rescue services, high access rope rescue, land and water based search and rescue and medical services. Nothing to do with the railways.

This is our website http://www.civildefencescotland.btik.com/

Civil Defence Technical Support Unit

Civil Defence Ambulance

Civil Defence Technical Rope Rescue Unit (still to have the blue and orange applied)

That pic in the middle of nowhere, with only one set of footprints, looks particularly good when combined with the snow that is currently "falling" on the Forum at the moment

On telling Mrs Trafalgar that I had the colours wrong on this particular thread she added that if I continue to get the colours wrong I should be careful as to what I drink over the festive time.
Thank you Specopcaptain for clearing this up and good luck to your organisation it is good to know that this set up exists should we ever require this type of assistance.

Not that I am suggesting it was cold when I took the picture of the vehicle in the snow but it took ages to get my door open as it had frozen shut! At one point we tried to deploy the winch to recover a car only to discover that the winch cable was a giant ice cube. A blow torch and a sledge hammer later we manage to free it off.

We provide our services all over Scotland and the rest of the UK if required. We are pretty flexible with our skills and each team member can carry out a variety of different skills. If any one wants info on joining then feel free to PM me.
