A friend in the US mention this site, some intriguing stuff there but it is only an index.

Air Force History Index

Oh dear...

You probably have the following url noted:

http://www.airfieldhistoriesuk.fsnet.co.uk

I was going to say this has the same problem, all the names and all the documents, but none online.

I think this is the correct site, but it is dead now.

Do you recall this one?

It had a green background, extensive lists of all the airfields, and a pics and samples of the info available, but you could only get on application to the site owner.

Er...

Yes, the American site is fine.

But...

I think you might be slipping again (and it's not hot this time maybe I phrased the query poorly).

I was actually asking about the possibly similar UK site which also had no info included with its lists of airfields etc, for which I gave what appears to be a dead link now.

It looks rather as if the British Military Airfield Histories site is only available now on paper.

(By the way this looks a useful site - Airfield Information Exchange)

Ah, good stuff, I'm pretty sure that is indeed the current version of the the site I had in mind.

The listings etc all look the same, but all the links on the page are dead too, so maybe its lapsed.

(It will probably be fine by the time anyone reads this of course, but at the time of writitng, all the AIE servers seem to be down, mains site and forum are unreachable - this thread is jinxed ).
