Looks like we lost our server for about 10 hours today - a total loss, including everyone else I know that lives in the same place - from around 11:00 to 20:00.
I'd give details, but there usually aren't any, and I'm not going to hassle anyone for them. This one has never displayed the dreadful '10-minutes-to-serve-a-page' malaise the other did, so a few hours is neither here nor there.
Later edit... The host clock also seems to have haywire at some point. meaning that 'new' posts that should have appeared as 'Recent Post' don't, with the result they never get listed as such.
That's something I can't go and alter, so if you have a thread you are interested in, and it looks dead as there are no recent posts reported, go in and check it yourself, as an incorrect time stamp may be the reason that recent posts made at the time were not properly classified (and never will, since the time is stamped into the message, it won't self-correct).
Later Still edit... The last 'Spuriously Time Stamped' edit seems to be marked September 13, 2007, 11:07am.
I'm hoping that once we pass that in 'Real Time' all the postings made after that 'Fantasy Time' will appear in the Recent Postings list, and things return to what passes for normality. They should, as I think those made earlier have started to appear as Real Time catches up with Fantasy Time, if you see what I mean (think)
AND, an even later edit... Well past 11:07, and the offenders are still offending. As fixing the time stamps is not a practical proposition, and their order is still based on some sort of Whovian Universal Timing, I've been forced to delete any mis-timed postings with trivial content (and offer my apologies), and reposted a few of the simpler ones as quotes in the following message, if it was easily done.
I think I've brought things on to an even keel, but don't really want to spend any more time fiddling with it, so hope things are near enough ok.
If you spot anything wrong, post a note, and I'll exterminate it (or try and fix if it's important). |
